What’s expert evidence?

When you present your case at VCAT you can include evidence from experts to support your side of the story. 

Who can go to VCAT hearings?

VCAT hearings are usually open to the public, including the media. At VCAT mediation and compulsory conferences are held in private.

Where can I find VCAT decisions?

We send parties a copy of the decision relating to their case.

When do I get the final decision?

When we make a final decision on your case, we may give the order to you in writing on the same day or send it to you after the hearing. 

What’s my VCAT reference number?

We give each case a reference number. Use this reference number whenever you contact us or the other people involved in the case.

Who presides over VCAT hearings?

VCAT members hear and decide our cases. They are lawyers or specialists within a given field and are appointed by the Governor in Council.
