The Accident Towing Services Act 2007 gives VCAT the power to make certain decisions. VCAT has both original jurisdiction and review jurisdiction under the Act.
VCAT can review certain decisions made by the Registrar of Incorporated Associations or by the secretary of an incorporated association under the Associations Incorporation Reform Act 2012.
Under the Drugs, Poisons and Controlled Substances Act 1981, VCAT can review some decisions of the Secretary of the Department of Environment, Land, Water and Planning made about poppy cultivation and poppy processing licences.
VCAT can review certain decisions that Energy Safe Victoria or the Chairperson of Energy Safe Victoria makes, or actions taken under the Electricity Safety Act 1998.
VCAT can review certain decisions made by the Director, Transport Safety (Safety Director) under the Rail Safety (Local Operations) Act 2006 and certain decisions of the Regulator (NRSR) under the Rail Safety National Law which applies in Victoria under the Rail Safety National Law Application Act 2013.
VCAT can review certain decisions made by the Business Licensing Authority under the Second-Hand Dealers and Pawnbrokers Act 1989. Under this Act, we can also conduct inquiries.
