Government investment in VCAT’s service transformation

Thursday 20 May 2021

We welcome the Government's announcement in the State Budget of $56.7 million to expand VCAT's digitally enabled Service Transformation.

The investment will fundamentally change how we deliver our service – enabling the Tribunal to better meet community and business needs for timely, efficient and accessible dispute resolution.

Over the next four years we will:

  • create a seamless online experience for VCAT users, including opportunities for greater self-service and better online access to case information
  • progressively transition all of VCAT's lists onto a new, paperless cloud-based case management system that will automate end-to-end workflows, reducing inefficiencies, and supporting our workforce to provide the best possible service to the Victorian community
  • improve the accuracy, quality and timeliness of the information we provide to over 400,000 Tribunal users who contact us through phone, email and over the counter.

We acknowledge the Government's support for the important role VCAT plays for the community, business and Victoria's economy, as well as its recognition of the significant challenges the Tribunal has faced in delivering our services, particularly during the COVID pandemic.

We look forward to working closely with our stakeholders, Court Services Victoria and the community to design a contemporary, sustainable justice service for the future.
