Business account feature

Learn who can use a business account and how to upgrade to one.

Application timeframes

Applications for a business account commence in April, 2026. After application, they will take about 4 weeks to process and become active.

What is a business account

Our business account feature helps connect applications and cases across an organisation in their myVCAT and myRDRV account.

The feature has 3 permission levels:

  • business administrator
  • branch (office) administrator
  • regular user.

Business administrator

The business administrator permission level can see all applications and cases made to us by their entire organisation.

Branch administrator

The branch administrator permission level can see all applications and cases made to us by their entire branch.

Branch administrators can also:

  • add regular users
  • remove regular users
  • reassign a case within their branch.

This permission level gives the administrator flexibility to share information and redistribute workloads across their branch.

Regular user

The regular user permission level is for individuals within an organisation to access all their notices, applications and cases made to us, including ones they were reassigned by branch administrators. They can also view other notices, applications, and cases by other users in their branch.

Each regular user has their own email address to sign in. They will also receive their own verification code when they sign in.

What to expect when you sign in to a business account

Our business account feature has a new dashboard that:

  • shows the status of applications and cases
  • shows notifications when actions are required
  • has an enhanced filter and search functionality.

If you have cases in myVCAT and myRDRV, you can also easily toggle between the dashboards to see all applications and cases you have with us.

Who can use a business account

Our business account feature has been developed for medium to large organisations who have multiple account users including where there are users across more than one branch. To be eligible, an organisation must have an Australian Business Number (ABN).

At the moment, our business account feature is for residential tenancy cases only, where the myVCAT/myRDRV account user is a representative of a renter or rental provider.

How to apply for a business account

We have invited any known medium to large organisations with residential tenancy applications and cases to apply.

If you have not been invited and think you are eligible to apply, you can contact us at RTsupport@courts.vic.gov.au .

We will ask you for the following information when you apply for a business account.

ASIC Current Company Extract – paid version

To apply for a business account, you need to nominate a business account holder. This is the person we will assign as the business administrator.

We need a Current Company Extract from ASIC to verify the business account holder is the office holder. This step is important to make sure all applications and cases with us are managed in accordance with privacy obligations.

The Current Company Extract must have been purchased:

Statutory declaration

If the nominated business account holder is not named in the ASIC Current Company Extract as an officer, you will need to provide us with a statutory declaration from another officer in your organisation who is named. The statutory declaration must say that they give you authority to act on behalf of the organisation.

Wording in the declaration should state:

I [insert name of office on ASIC Current Company Extract] confirm that [insert name of nominated business account holder] is the officer in effective control with the authority to act on behalf of the [insert organisation name] as the business administrator for our myVCAT and/or myRDRV business account.
