Elizabeth Brande has been appointed as VCAT’s new CEO following a highly competitive recruitment process.
Liz has held several senior roles within the Victorian public sector and has substantial experience leading corporate services and large-scale transformation within a justice setting.
President Ted Woodward congratulated Liz on her appointment.
“Liz’s career has been defined by delivering improvements in organisational performance, and building high-performing, values-based teams in complex, public facing environments and we are thrilled to have her join VCAT,” Ted said.
Liz said she’s proud to join VCAT - an organisation with a strong foundation and a clear strategic direction through Towards Excellence.
“My focus will be building on VCAT's strengths, supporting continuity and maintaining strong partnerships across the justice sector and community,” Liz said.
"I look forward to meeting stakeholders, understanding their priorities and continuing the collaborative relationships that are essential to delivering positive outcomes for Victorians.”
Liz started in the CEO role on 28 September 2026.
President Ted Woodward thanked Kathryn Martin for her stewardship as acting CEO since Fiona Chamberlain’s departure in June 2026.
