VCAT announces a change in leadership

After 3 years as Chief Executive Officer, Fiona Chamberlain concludes her tenure on Friday 26 June, with Kathryn Martin appointed as Acting Chief Executive Officer.

Reflecting on her tenure, the outgoing CEO said leading VCAT over the past 3 years had been one of the greatest privileges of her career.

During this period, VCAT delivered significant organisational change. Highlights include the launch of its 2024-2027 Strategic Direction, Towards Excellence, major structural reforms and digital transformation, the establishment of Rental Dispute Resolution Victoria (RDRV) and a move to a new purpose-built headquarters at 308 La Trobe Street, Melbourne.

She acknowledged the leadership of VCAT President Ted Woodward and the contributions of partners in the sector.

“These achievements have only been possible because of the dedication and commitment of VCAT’s members and staff, and the support of our partners who have worked alongside us throughout this journey,” Fiona said. “I could not be prouder of what we have achieved together.”

President Ted Woodward thanked Fiona for her steady leadership and contributions that have shaped today’s VCAT.

Kathryn Martin has been appointed Acting Chief Executive Officer. She brings deep organisational knowledge and leadership expertise to the position, having served for 16 years in Victoria’s courts and justice system, including 2 years in VCAT’s leadership team. Her experience will support a smooth and stable transition as VCAT continues its work.
